Mexia High School Principal Mr. John Griggs would like to extend a congratulations to Mr. Jason Ellis! Mr. Ellis is the District 6 Student Council Eddie G. Bull Advisor of the Year. This year MHS became the Treasurer school for District 6, a three-year term. Mr. Ellis obtained the required paperwork required for the successful running of the treasurer school. Additionally, Mr. Ellis has helped MHS StuCo with another Sweepstakes in Pride and Patriotism, D.A.S.H, Energy and Environment, Community Service, and Outstanding Student Council. To gain this honor, each student council must have 15 projects in each category. Many hours of planning, working, driving, organizing, and implementing went into these projects. This could not have been achieved without Mr. Ellis and MHS Student Council! Congratulations and thank you for all you do!

Good evening Blackcats, Tonight the MISD Board of Trustees approved the 2023-2024 Instructional Calendar (attached). We will continue working on details of the Accelerated Instruction Weeks and share when those are finalized. Also, I am pleased to announce that Shelli Killingsworth will be moving into the role of Executive Director of Student Programs for the 2023-2024 school year. Prior to being the Executive Director of Human Resources, Mrs. Killingsworth worked with Bilingual/ESL, Migrant, Homeless, and Foster Care programs. She also spent time working with RtI and Gifted and Talented programs. Mrs. Killingsworth is very excited to continue to serve the students and staff of Mexia ISD in this new role.
