Mr. Marcus Wilson

Marcus  Wilson joined Mexia ISD in 2005 and again in 2023 and is currently working as the Mexia High School Principal for Blackcat Nation.  He earned his bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University and his master’s degree from Tarleton State University.  Marcus holds the following educational certifications: principal, generalist 4-8 and social studies 8-12.

Mr. Wilson’s career has prepared him to serve the students of Mexia in many ways.  He began his career in 2005 as a teacher/coach for four years at Mexia Junior High.  In 2009, Marcus was promoted to the Assistant Principal at Tennyson Middle School in Waco ISD, and a year later, Mr. Wilson became the Assistant Principal for Connally High School, where he served for three years.  In 2013, Marcus transitioned to Lorena High School, where he worked for ten years as the assistant principal.  During his time there, Lorena High School won the TASSP 3A Lone Star Cup award. In 2023, Mr. Wilson came home to Mexia and took the job of Principal for  R.Q. Sims Intermediate until July 2024, when he earned the position of principal at Mexia High School.  

Mr. Wilson grew up in Mexia, TX and is a "True Defender."  He married Amanda Wilson in 2006.  They have two sons, Braden and Easton, as well as two daughters, Allie and Rylee.  When not working, Marcus enjoys spending time with his family, participating in church activities, and being outdoors (hunting and fishing).

Mr. Gary Dobbs

Gary Dobbs joined Mexia ISD in 2024 and is currently working as the Mexia High School Assistant Principal for Blackcat Nation.  He earned his bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University and his master’s degree from the University of Houston (Victoria).  Gary’s educational certifications include PE, Biology, School Counselor and Administration.

Mr. Dobbs’s career has prepared him to serve the students of Mexia in many ways.  He began his career in 2001 in Ferris, TX, where he taught biology and coached high school football and track.  After four years in Ferris, he moved to Katy, TX, to continue in these same roles at Katy Morton Ranch High School.  Having spent several years in Katy, Gary moved to the DFW metroplex as a counselor at Euless Junior High, followed by six years as a counselor in Corsicana ISD. 

Mr. Dobbs grew up in Arlington, TX.  He has one son and one daughter.  When not working, Gary enjoys crossfit, hiking, and running.  He also devotes additional time and energy to being an L1 Crossfit Coach, a member of Texas Association of School Principals, and a member of Grace Community Church.
