Hello Blackcats. This afternoon the fire alarm system was activated at the Junior High School. The building was evacuated and Mexia Police and Fire Departments responded immediately. The building was checked and no fire was found. Mexia Fire Department authorized students and staff to return to the building and resume school. At no time were students or staff in danger and as always their safety is our number one priority. A big thank you goes out to Mexia's first responders for prioritizing the safety of our staff, students & facilities.

Parents of emergent bilingual students, the T3 Series Family Event is still on for tomorrow, December 14th at 12:30 pm, but will accommodate parents for the early dismissal. Please join us in the Mexia Junior High Library for a family outreach and training that will provide parents with the required parent and family literacy services, activities, and trainings needed to improve their English language skills.

Roving Chef Experience at SIMS!
Yesterday, 11/7/24, SIMS had a special treat for their top students who earned the most PBS points in 4th grade! These students got the chance to participate in a hands-on cooking lesson with a roving chef, where they learned how to make guacamole and explored the health benefits of this delicious dish. 🥑👩🍳
