Mr. Shane Holcomb

Shane Holcomb joined Mexia ISD in 2022 and is currently working as the Mexia Junior High Principal for Blackcat Nation.  He earned his bachelor's degree from The University of Montevallo and his master’s degree from The University of Texas at Arlington.  Shane holds the following certifications: Principal, SPED, Health and PE.

Mr. Holcomb’s career has prepared him to serve the students of Mexia in many ways.  After college, he spent the first several years pursuing a career in the music business. He spent 13 months in Nashville before moving back to Texas. After the move, Shane spent some time flying back and forth to Nashville, writing songs and performing music.  He started his teaching and coaching career in Corsicana. Mr. Holcomb then spent two years with Blooming Grove ISD and one year with Athens ISD before returning to Corsicana in 2012. He got out of coaching in 2016 and landed an assistant principal position with CISD. Shane remained an assistant principal until June of 2022, when he earned the opportunity to be the Principal of Mexia Junior High.

Mr. Holcomb grew up in Jemison, AL (Central Alabama).  He married Kim in 1995.  They have two sons and one daughter-in-law.  They are also blessed with one grandson (???).  When not working, Shane enjoys playing the guitar, singing, team roping, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He is also a member of TASSP and TEPSA.

Mrs. Amanda Wilson

Amanda Wilson joined Mexia ISD in 2023 and is currently working as the Mexia Junior High Assistant Principal for Blackcat Nation.  She earned her bachelor's degree from Lamar University and her master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University.  Amanda’s educational certifications include: Special Education K-12, School Counselor & Administrator.

Mrs. Wilson’s career has prepared her to serve the students of Mexia in many ways.  She began her career in 2009 as the receptionist at Mexia Junior High. After moving to Waco, she continued her undergrad degree while working as a campus secretary in Waco ISD. Amanda’s first teaching job was in Waco ISD, where she worked in the special education field, where she continued for 10 years. During those 10 years, she served as special education teacher and behavior specialist. For the past 5 years, Mrs. Wilson has been serving as a school counselor in Lorena ISD (named Region 12 counselor of the year) and then in Mexia ISD.  

Mrs. Wilson grew up in Mexia.  She married Marcus Wilson in 2006, and they have two sons and two daughters.  When not working, Amanda enjoys coaching little dribblers and watching her kids’ sporting events. She also devotes additional time and energy by serving on the Region 12 School Counselor Advisory Board.
