Mexia ISD has declared April 8, 2024, a school holiday as a precautionary measure due to the expected impact of a full solar eclipse on Central Texas. Authorities support the closure of schools in the region on this day due to expected high volume of traffic and the load this may place on roads and communication infrastructure. Despite the closure, the MISD school calendar has enough instructional minutes. This means students do not have to make up for the missed day. Your child's campus may provide additional details, including instructions for the use of special glasses that have been provided for our students.
Mexia ISD was awarded a $160,000 Strong Foundations Grant by TEA!!!
March 4-8 is Educational Diagnosticians Week. Mexia ISD would like to say a big THANK YOU to our diagnosticians who work diligently behind the scenes to ensure our students and teachers are equipped with what they need to be successful. You are appreciated!
Mexia Independent School District is in the process of accepting nominations for students who would benefit from the special instructional techniques provided by its Gifted and Talented program. Student nominations from parents, teachers and community members will be accepted from March 4th through March 25th. If you know of a student in grades K through 12 whom you believe “performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment academically,” you are encouraged to nominate that student to be assessed for possible placement in the Gifted and Talented program. Student nomination forms are available in each of the campus offices. These forms must be picked up and returned to the campus no later than March 25th. Forms will not be accepted after March 25th. For nominated students who have parental approval, testing will occur during the semester. Students who qualify in grades 1-12 will be placed in the program during the next school year. Please contact your child’s principal or counselor for more information.
